GDPR Notice - 31 October 2018

The new privacy regulation better known as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) was actively enforced from the 31st of May 2018 in all EU Countries. Although the GDPR regulations follow the general EU data protection principles, it creates many new rights for individuals and new obligations for those who process personal data. “It also defines what ‘processing’ of personal data means - any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means.

Such operations include, among others, collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of personal data.”

To put it simply – processing includes everything that is done with personal data by an organisation, and for this reason it affects almost every business. Parex Parts Exchange B.V. has worked with the regulators to ensure that our software solutions cover the mandatory GDPR principles and follow the related guidelines.
To this end and under the terms of your maintenance/subscription contract Parex Parts Exchange B.V. has automatically upgraded your system with a GDPR compliant software solution. The enhanced GDPR functionality and services has been covered by your maintenance/subscription contract with no additional charge to you.

Further changes, are ensured through a remote connection, usually overnight and do not require any specific customer activity. GDPR is a complex set of regulations, not all Countries have issued detailed implementation guidelines and most OEMs are still changing their internal processes and systems to ensure compliance.

It’s probable that in the near future some specific implementation guidelines will be published by the regulatory bodies in the different markets. Parex Parts Exchange B.V. will continue to monitor the evolution of GDPR and will ensure that future updates and patches are implemented as and when regulatory change is understood.
